Watched an aerial tour of the south cost of England from Goonhilly Down to Dover on HDTheatre, another Discovery satellite channel. We'll be there in a few weeks walking terra firma, not flying around in a helicopter.
The Sunrise Earth segment which followed was from Iceland. No clouds of ash or flowing lava, though. Plenty of geysers.
Some of our cats like to bask on the kitchen window-sill in the early morning sun; but to catch this particular quartet in the window was quite unusual.

I hope that volcano quiets down for you. I'm trying to go in September. Mother Nature has her own agenda.
Kathy is being very optimistic that we'll fly with no problems; I'm not so sure. The weather is so good over the British Isles that there is no wind to blow the ash away or no rain to wash it out of the sky.

I had to think a bit to see that that sentence could be construed as irony . . . At the moment the British Isles is experiencing good weather especially after such a beastly winter there. And of course the fine ash is too high to be washed out of the sky with rain.
September-October is a good time to visit the Isles; usually Indian Summer weather.
