This is another book on the to be finished pile; another gem of forgotten literature from the early twentieth century.

Victor Segalen remained unpublished at his death in 1919 aged forty. René Leys was first published in 1922. This Overlook Press edition, translated by J.A. Underwood, appeared in 1988.

I'm finding that I have trouble recollecting the story of the books I read, or started to read, as an adult. So much for making strong impressions; quite a few books remain unfinished as I may start reading several books at once, become engrossed in one in particular and have to reread the ones that I stop reading and leave too long.
